Climate Change Impact on Inflow and Nutrient Loads to a Warm Monomictic Lake

چکیده

This study analyses the impact of climate change on inflows, sediment loads, and nutrient inputs to Sabalan dam reservoir, a warm monomictic lake located northwest Iran. For this purpose, Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) was calibrated (2005–2018) validated (2001–2004). Future climate-based data under AR5 emission scenarios were obtained from HadGEM2–ES general circulation model then downscaled using LARSWG 6.0. The tuned SWAT used investigate hydrological processes pollution loads reservoir. Our findings based Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency coefficient determination indicated an acceptable performance in simulation Inflow load reservoir will increase during period 2030–2070 compared base (1998–2018). annual total nitrogen (phosphorus) by 8.5% (9.4%), 7.3% (8.2%), 5% (3.4%) RCP2.6, RCP4.5, RCP8.5, respectively. An significantly exacerbate eutrophic condition, leading water quality deterioration with acute consequences for positive functions dam.

Annual sulfur cycle in a warm monomictic lake with sub-millimolar sulfate concentrations

BACKGROUND We studied the annual variability of the concentration and isotopic composition of main sulfur species and sulfide oxidation intermediates in the water column of monomictic fresh-water Lake Kinneret. Sulfate concentrations in the lake are <1 mM and similar to concentrations that are proposed to have existed in the Paleoproterozoic ocean. The main goal of this research was to explore ...

Climate change impacts on nutrient loads in the Yorkshire Ouse catchment (UK)

This study assessed the impact of potential climate change on the nutrient loads to surface and sub-surface waters from agricultural areas and was conducted using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model. The study focused on a 3500 km2 catchment located in northern England, the Yorkshire Ouse. The SWAT model was calibrated and validated using sets of five years’ measurements of nitrate ...

Warm-water coral reefs and climate change.

Coral reefs are highly dynamic ecosystems that are regularly exposed to natural perturbations. Human activities have increased the range, intensity, and frequency of disturbance to reefs. Threats such as overfishing and pollution are being compounded by climate change, notably warming and ocean acidification. Elevated temperatures are driving increasingly frequent bleaching events that can lead...

Climate Change and Agricultural Development: Adapting Polish Agriculture to Reduce Future Nutrient Loads in a Coastal Watershed

Currently, there is a major concern about the future of nutrient loads discharged into the Baltic Sea from Polish rivers because they are main contributors to its eutrophication. To date, no watershed-scale studies have properly addressed this issue. This paper fills this gap by using a scenario-modeling framework applied in the Reda watershed, a small (482 km²) agricultural coastal area in nor...
